Rosenheim Shield Final
Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the women’s Rosenheim Shield Final, at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening. Their best placing came from Nikki Javan who was fourth in the 3000 metres (13:28.74). She also placed sixth in the 1500 metres (6:27.57). Jay Brzask-Makiela placed fifth in the hurdles in a new club record of 43.25. The 4 x 200m relay team of Stanka Petrova, Sandra Francis, Rachel Lindley and Ellyw Evans also placed fifth (2:52.28). Rachel Lindley placed sixth in the 800 metres in a club W40 record of 2:39.45. Sandra Francis placed seventh in the discus with a club W65 record of 10.22. Vanessa Wheeler placed seventh in both the shot (4.18) and the 100 metres (19.57). Ellyw Evans was seventh in the 400 metres (76.14), while Stanka Petrova placed eighth in the 200 metres (57.88). Striders placed seventh of the eight clubs in the match.
Two of Striders’ men ran in an open 3000 metre race at the same venue, with Tatsuya Okamoto placing 13th (10:05.62) and Peter Johnson 19th (11:19.82). Also on Wednesday, Lottie Nusca was eighth in the W35 age-group in the RunThrough Olympic Park 10K in Stratford (53:01).
On Saturday morning, Phil Coales ran very well to place first out of 488 finishers in the Ormeau parkrun in Belfast (17:23). Lee Flanagan placed second out of 219 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (19:51). Nathan Robertshaw placed second out of 118 finishers in the Kingdom parkrun at Penshurst in Kent (18:25). Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 25th overall (23:24). Kara Boaks was the third woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 29th overall (22:34). Striders had an impressive total of 131 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
