Serpentine five-kilometre road race
Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place first in the M60 age-group, and 41st overall out of 246 finishers, in the Serpentine five-kilometre road race at Hyde Park on Friday. He recorded 18:10, achieving an age-grading of 90.1%. Ellyw Evans was the ninth woman to finish, placing 103rd overall (20:21). Striders were led by Conor O’Hara-Barrett, who also ran well to place 25th in a personal best 17:34. Andy Perks was 52nd (18:33), Graeme Drysdale 60th (18:41), Matthew Stone 74th (19:02) and John O’Mahony 115th (20:57).
On Saturday morning, Phil Coales ran well to place first out of 426 finishers in the Brockwell parkrun (17:16). Peter Johnson was third out of 36 finishers in the Ziegelwiese parkrun in Germany (20:27), while Alex Legge was the third woman to finish, placing 14th overall (24:56). Conor O’Hara-Barrett was fourth out of 198 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (18:39), while Ellyw Evans was the fourth woman to finish, placing 34th overall (23:32). Cindy Siu was the fourth woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 52nd overall out of 267 finishers (25:19). Striders had a total of 112 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the RunThrough Finsbury Park Half Marathon on Sunday, Maili Singh was second in the W45 age-group and 143rd overall out of 277 finishers (1:57:45). In the Cranleigh 21-mile road race on the same day, David Gunaratnam placed ninth in the M60 age-group and 83rd overall out of 102 finishers (3:38:34). In the 14-mile race at the same venue, Daniel Shew placed 60th (2:32:59) with Theresa Staunton 68th (2:59:14). In the RunThrough Chase The Moon 10K, at Battersea on Wednesday, John Punt placed sixth in the M55 age-group and 133rd overall out of 491 finishers (44:17).
