Striders’ James wins Thames Half Marathon
James Bennett, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to win the recent Thames Meander Half-Marathon. His winning time of 78 minutes 09 seconds placed him more than a minute clear of the runner-up, and lifted him to 15th place in Striders’ all-time club rankings. There were 268 finishers.
On Bank Holiday Monday, James’ club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia was the first over-40 in the Canterbury Half-Marathon, finishing tenth overall and recording 81 minutes 07 seconds. Long-distance specialist Ozgur Gulec completed the Stour Valley 100-kilometre race in 12 hours 47 minutes.
