Striders race from 5km to 100 miles!
Debra Bourne, from Striders of Croydon, had a very good run in difficult weather conditions in the North Downs Way 100-mile race, starting at Farnham in Surrey on Saturday and finishing at Ashford in Kent on Sunday morning. She was the sixth woman to finish, placing first in the W50 age-group and 65th overall out of 204 runners, and completing the course in 28 hours 10 minutes 12 seconds. Club colleague Tatsuya Okamoto also ran very well to finish 17th, recording 22 hours 47 minutes 18.
On Saturday evening, Andrew Aitken competed in the Hercules Wimbledon 5K Festival Night at Wimbledon Park, placing 12th in his heat in 17 minutes 43.25 seconds. Earlier in the day, Rachel Lindley ran very well to be the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing seventh overall in 20 minutes 33. Liam Redmond finished second in the South Norwood parkrun (18:43) with club colleague Conor O’Hara-Barrett fifth (19:38). Michelle Campbell was the fourth woman to finish, placing 35th overall (25:56). Martin Filer was third in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20:25), while Natalie Moat was the fourth woman to finish the Letchworth parkrun, placing 32nd overall (27:15). Striders had a total of 89 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
On Wednesday evening, in the RunThrough Chase The Sun 10-kilometre road race at Battersea Park, Channing Lynch ran well to be the 11th woman to finish, placing 87th overall out of 209 finishers in 47 minutes 08. Club colleague James Burree was 61st (43:17). In another 10-kilometre road race, at the same venue on Sunday morning, Darren Woods placed 50th out of 234 finishers (43:59).
