Sutton 10km
Striders of Croydon had 15 finishers in the Sutton 10K at Nonsuch Park on Sunday, which was the second race in this year’s Surrey Road League. They were led by Andrew Aitken who ran well to place 25th (36:20). Martin Filer was 30th (37:06) and Erik Schrijnemaekers 53rd (39:10). Steve Corfield was second in the over-60 category and 56th overall (39:13), completing the scoring team. Sarah Madigan was the 95th woman to finish (69:13) while Stanka Petrova was the 103rd woman to finish (83:15). Striders’ oldest competitor, Andy Elliott, ran very well to set a club over-75 record of 64 minutes 05. Striders’ other finishers included Marc Burrows (39:50), Tom Gillespie (40:12), Liam Redmond (41:12), Peter Johnson (42:30), Stephen Allport (44:41), Darren Woods (45:33), Matt Byrne (48:42) and Stephen Tyler (82:10).
Striders fielded seven teams in the Beckenham Relays on Wednesday. Their women’s A team of Angela Seesurrun (20:44), Ellyw Evans (17:42) and Consuelo Kennefick (18:28) were the ninth female team to finish. Their women’s B team of Vanessa Wheeler (23:10), Annabel Crouch (26:33) and Yasmin Anderson (22:30) were the 22nd female team to finish. Striders had five men’s teams, with their A team of Marc Burrows (15:54), Max Veglio (15:57) and Steve Massey (16:07) placing 41st out of 154 teams. Their other runners were Stephen Kennefick (16:53), Bill Beattie (17:26), Tim Lawlor (17:30), Andy Perks (17:33), Darren Woods (17:36), James Burree (17:52), Mark Nortje (17:55), Paul Ayers (18:06), Jon Dean (18:12), Mark Harman (19:28), Joshua Burree (26:10) and Martin Gourlay (26:50).
Also on Wednesday, Striders also had several competitors in the Rosenheim League match at Tooting. Unfortunately, the results were not available at the time of writing. On Saturday, Striders had 104 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
