This week’s race performances
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the South London Harriers 10K, held at Farthing Downs on Thursday evening. They were led by Tatsuya Okamoto who ran well to place fifth of the 70 finishers, completing the undulating course in 38 minutes 41. Phil Coales also ran well to finish seventh (39:00), while Lee Flanagan was 13th (39:52) and Peter Mills 16th (40:36). Kerim Suruliz was 30th (44:25), Stephen Allport 42nd (47:49), Andy Perks 45th (48:26) and Claire Mitchell 64th (59:06).
On Saturday, Ally Whitlock ran well to complete the Lakeland 50-mile race, on a hilly route from Ullswater to Coniston, in 13 hours 39 minutes 50 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Steve Corfield was second in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:16). Robert Lines was third in the Riddlesdown parkrun (19:01) with Martin Filer fourth (19:35), while Jemma Zakariyyau was the fourth woman to finish, placing 24th overall (23:36). Nadine Pryce was the third woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 63rd overall (26:54). Ellyw Evans was the fourth woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 36th overall (23:42). Debra Bourne was the fourth woman to finish the Howard Temin Lakeshore parkrun at Madison in Wisconsin, placing eighth overall (26:52). Striders had a total of 96 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Striders also had five finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun on Sunday. Zoe Siu was 21st (10:15) with Caleb Macenhill 36th (11:30), Daniel Williams 37th (11:34), Hazel Siu 40th (11:48) and Jessica Williams 67th (16:04).
